The purpose of a lubricating gel is to facilitate penetration during intercourse, whether it's for the vagina or the anus.

In a similar context, it is also useful during perineal re-education sessions.

Water-based lubricants are compatible with condoms, offering comfort and security. They can also be used without a condom, particularly in cases of vaginal dryness.

However, water-based lubricants dry more quickly than silicone-based gels, sometimes requiring frequent reapplication.
