ELECTRICAL STIMULATION

1. Issues related to current and patient listening

In vaginal stimulation, during the passage of the current, there are different sensations experienced by the patient.

They can help define if stimulation is consistent with what should be expected.

  • sensation of contraction, cramp, thrust back (rectum): normal
= probe normally positioned on the breeders
  • sensation of tingling in the passage of the current
= intensity less than the opening threshold of the contractile response (increasing intensity)
= electrodes outside the field of the muscle motor point
  • acute burning sensations with possible pain and minimal contraction
= sensitive mucous membrane, too dry, no lubrication
  • painful sensation without getting contraction
= possible signs of denervation if the intensity exceeds 35 mA without motor responses
  • acute sensations to the Abdomino-Pubienne region
= probe inserted too deep in the vagina (with ring probes)
  • sensation of electric current to the vulvary entrance and large lips
= probe positioned too outside between pubo-rectal and bulbo-spongy (with ring probes)
  • the required intensity is abnormally high (more than 50 mA)
= sign of total peripheral neurogene suffering if there is no contractile response
= partial sensor peripheral denervation sign if there is a muscle response

2. Material issues

  • the patient feels nothing during the increase in intensity
= the probe is not connected to the device
    = connection is defective
= connection is not enclosed in the female plug
= cable wires are defective at the entrance of the probe
    = the probe is defective
= the power in mA is insufficient
= the patient is in post partum and breastfeeding
  • the intensity passes in an inconstante way
= bad contact at probe level
= bad contact at probe wire level
= poor contact in electrodes welding

3. The probe does not work, the customer feels nothing, the device does not recognize the probe

After checking all the above, pull the probe, rinse it, clean it, put a little gel in the hand, plug the probe; tighten the fingers on the electrodes, choose a frequency of 10 Hz, increase the intensity...

If you don't feel anything despite the fact that you change the cable, then the probe is actually defective,

If you feel a tingling in your hand it means that the probe works and that the problem comes:

  • or lack of patient sensitivity
  • or your insertion not sufficiently deep

BIOFEEDBACK

1. Problems related to tagging

The signal is not stable, there are spikes of saturation and drops of the line of micro volts

  • Refuse a clamp

2. Reference electrode problems

  • Check the quality of the reference electrode
  • Clean or shave the skin under the electrode
  • Put the electrode on a bone

3. Registration issues

  • The curve is not legible (see marking)
  • The curve is not very stable, or less good than usual (patient in hormones, or stools in the rectal bulb)
  • The curve is irregular (vaginal medium not wet enough, too dry, hypohormonalization)
  • The curve is too high and sature (correct and lower the reference microvolt value)
